Runway Review
6/10/2015 TeamFWP

Alessandro Dell’Acqua made the trip to New York to present his Rochas lineup to key in on the importance of the U.S. market and press to the brand. Inspired by the prima ballerina Margot Fonteyn, his collection captured a delicate femininity with beautiful laces, macramé and silk knits arranged on simple shapes with plays on volume. Presented in the showroom with minimal styling tricks, the clothes projected an ease that has gotten convoluted on his runways.

The dancer’s “lightness, freedom and femininity is very important to Rochas,” Dell’Acqua said. He didn’t shy away from the precious with ballerina prints, pink-and-black ginghams and interpretations of tulle tutus done in unconstructed shapes that gave the collection a loose prettiness. A white, A-line tank dress with panels of macramé and lace was airy and romantic, and a black-and-white gingham baby doll with a bow detail was right on for a woman who’s not afraid of her girly side.
