Elie SaabHaute Couture Fall Winter 2014 Paris

Runway Review
7/9/2014 Marina Izilova/TeamFWP

Elie Saab collection is inspired by the grandeur of a Parisian Palace with exceptional craftsmanship only possible in haute couture.

The ethereal interiors of the city of light influences the entire collection as stated in his show notes, the entire collection consists of jeweled color tones of a palette that recalls the faceted and prismatic reflections of crystal chandeliers as seen throughout the show space on Rue Cambon.

Floral designs can also be seen throughout the collection inspired from the stately murals of Arabia, that flow and wind themselves across several of the evening gowns and coquette dresses.

The Pearl is highlighted in the details of the fabric, embellishments that are translated to a pointillist on silk and micro palette gowns that are a reflection of the quintessential heritage of the house of Elie Saab.

Subtle yet luminous colors melt into one another with kaleidoscopic effervescence, Bleu glacier, indigo and eau du Nil are laid against nimbus white and onyx with deep peony fading into the brilliant shades of crimson. Antiqued rose and copper add depth and warmth that flickers throughout the heart of the collection.

The accessories are precious, with materials so sumptuous as seen in the minaudiere handbags and jewellery, that blooms in three dimensional colors.

The show closes with the bride that is regal and majestic yet embroidered in vaporous, pearlescent white and volume unfurling from the waist. ELIE SAAB has captured the incandescent beauty that is the City of Lights as if its a dream.
