Narciso RodriguezSpring Summer 2015 New York

Runway Review
9/10/2014 Ed Kavishe/fashionwirepress.com

Narciso Rodriguez is known for his obstinate attention to detail and modern sense of minimalism, but he stepped out of the box a bit and added a down to earth attitude into his Spring collection. The female form was the starting point: plunging necklines, harness backs, curve-hugging trousers, leg-baring frocks, and long fitted sleeves. Pants were akin to wetsuits in their commitment to the models' figures, while color blocking flattered the shape with every step on the catwalk - a Rodriguez signature. The brand loves powerful lines and expert construction and those performed here, worthy of high praise.

The brand established some equilibrium by alternating those tights looks with looser, asymmetric-hem shifts, shawl collar blazers and vests, and delicate embellished dresses: still sultry but with a more relaxed spirit. The palette was lightened along with it in shades of rosy pink, teal, and blush.

Rodriguez loves a bugle bead and those injected a sense of subdued extravagance on the bodice of a black and white frock and in bands around effortless leggy stunners.

The collection was gentle and elegant - another testament to the brand's greatness though at times the pieces felt a bit restricted. Ultimately, Rodriguez's care and harmonious design united for a sense of luminance and charm: not the most revolutionary offerings we have seen but definitely among the most good-looking.
