Top Shop UniqueSpring Summer 2015 London

Runway Review
9/14/2014 TeamFWP

For autumn/winter 2014, Topshop Unique designer Emma Farrow sent the Topshop girl to college, in chunky knits, blazers and boots. For SS15, she’s broken up for summer and is off to seduce her tennis instructor.

Watched by the usual A-list FROW including Anna Wintour, Alexa Chung, Ellie Goulding, Pixie Lott, Hailee Steinfeld, Abbey Clancy, Laura Carmichael, and Daisy Lowe (sadly no Mossy), the show was opened and closed by Cara Delevingne and also starred supermodels Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson. Yep, be in no doubt, Toppers is big business these days.

The suitably youthful collection kicked off with an assortment of sporty tennis dresses and canvas bags, super-short pleated skirts, and cheerleader-style maroon jumpers with chevrons and stripes. You could just imagine Cara and co. heading off for their morning tennis lesson and then meeting up for a Slush Puppie afterwards.

Then came 1950s Sandy from Grease inspired high-waisted skintight trousers, worn with off-the-shoulder and bandeau tops. There were also cute lemon yellow co-ords and V-neck knits paired with tiny flouncy frilled shorts/knickers. Presumably this is what Topshop girl wears to snog her boyfriend behind the bus stop.

And for the saucy finale, out came the jewel-coloured satin and sheer, shimmering mini dresses – the black diaphanous frilled micro-mini worn by Jourdan Dunn (sporting her new choppy bob) will be on all the must-have lists next spring. As the opening bars of Tainted Love played, Cara – who else? – brought the curtain down in a stunning nude sheer dress with yellow gold foil detail and a knowing smile. Topshop girl is just getting started.

f you can’t wait for spring, a capsule collection from the Unique SS15 show is available to buy straight from the catwalk now at Topshop.com.
